Artistic StatementAs an artist, I want to tell stories that need to be told, bring awareness to issues in society, inspire people to do what they love, promote the arts, and represent my communities. There are so many stories waiting to be told, which is why I love to be a part of new plays. With my work, I hope to highlight the voices of women and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color). Through art, I want to bring awareness to social justice issues women/nonbinary, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA2S+ people face. With my art, I hope to inspire people to do what they love and to go for their dreams. My passion for government has also made one of my goals to be an advocate for the arts and to promote (more) government funding to support artists/actors. Lastly, showing positive representations of women and the black community is important to me as a performer. As a Black woman, I want to show people that they can embrace their intersectionality and love themselves.

"Ashley Bowen delivers a spectacular performance playing Herman’s wife, Viola, who attempts to bring him down to earth: 'Herman, you’re not hearing me. Just listen.'"

"In the effortlessly endearing roles of the neighborhood chorus, student actors Marissa Angel Barker, Ashley Bowen and Makaila Heath command with their interludes of rhyming gossip, context-setting chatter, and tit-for-tat banter. Seizing upon Kaiddo’s tongue-twister dialogue — its lyricism and inherent humor — this trio creates a lively atmosphere that holds audiences’ attention throughout the staging." - Sightlines Magazine

"Ashley Bowen shines as Anne, the young female lead frustrated that self-absorbed co-star Jimmy (Adeyinka Adebola) can’t seem to see her for more than the part she plays." - Winona Post

"In the story, historical figures Billy Brown (Raffeal Sears), Price (a terrifying Doug Scholz-Carlson, GRSF Artistic Director), and actor James Hewlett (Adeyinka Adebola in a commanding performance) are joined by two female actors who work as servants during the day, Ann (an appealing Ashley Bowen) and Sarah (Teri Brown)..."- Cherry and Spoon
